Bigfoot Lodge is a ski lodge located in Niseko, Japan – with the vibe of a Canadian hunters bar and grill.
When my good friends at the Bigfoot Lodge asked me to design their new logo and branding, I was really stumped for ideas. The brief was as detailed as this; it could not feature a sasquatch, it had to feature an animal, and it had to be round. That was it – the rest, was up to me.
So I decided to play around with a heap of different character styles and mascot themes that fit within the helms of quirky oddities (something that the bar itself also has a lot of in terms of decor) and tried to create something memorable.
The end result was an odd looking bison with an oddly hairy face that somewhat resembles a human (to me, anyway). I also drew inspiration for beer logos – which I think really shows in the style of the overall logo. There’s no reason this logo wouldn’t fit right in on a beer tap – and that’s why I love it the most.
